Firebird 206 returns from bushfires in southern New South Wales.
Blue Sky pilots Mark Fitzsimmons & Colin Greenwood have returned from aerial firefighting duties in Tumut and the Kosciuszko National Park. Providing an air attack /recon/mapping platform to the Rural Fire Service both pilots were kept busy in the Company Bell 206 B3 Jetranger flying sorties close to the country town of Tumut and in the wildeness areas of the Snowy Mountains...

100 Years Young - Age is no Barrier When Flying Blue Sky!
We were recently privileged to fly Gladys Holman who was celebrating her 100th birthday... Gladys who was visiting from Brisbane, flew with members of her family on our most popular flight, the 30-minute City to Surf. Prior to this flight, our oldest passenger who flew with us was a sprightly 93! Congratulations again Gladys in reaching this significant milestone, it was a real pleasure to show you Sydney from the air... Positioning the helicopter in just the right spot for veteran Herald photographer, Bob Pearce to capture this amazing image, (opening day of WYD) Blue Sky pilot, Mark Fitzsimmons says "To witness history unfolding from such a unique vantage point, I feel truly privileged.. Kudos also to my fellow pilots (including the NSW Police Airwing) and the Air Traffic Controllers at Sydney Airport who have been absolutely terrific in making the restricted (busy) airspace more manageable this week...

Blue Sky Covers the Arrival of the First Commercial Airbus A380!
Global aviation history was made today with the arrival of the first commercial flight of the new Airbus A380. The Singapore Airlines-owned Airbus A380 touched down in foggy Sydney at 5:24 p.m. local time (0724 GMT), just over seven hours after it began its historic flight from Singapore.

Working with photographer James Morgan, (who was covering the event for Singapore Airlines & Worldwide media outlets), Blue Sky pilot, Mark Fitzsimmons had a box seat hovering abeam the threshold virtually nose to nose with the A380 as it came into land.

I Fly Neighbourly Blue Sky introduces Enviro-Friendly Fly Neighbourly policy into it's flight operations.
Blue Sky Helicopters has incorporated the Helicopter Association Internationals "Fly Neighbourly" program into it's flight operations. This initiative promotes the operation of helicopters in such a way that minimises the noise impact to the community and the environment.

This is accomplished, for example, by establishing and following routes that limit exposure to the public, employing pilot techniques that reduce the noise signature of the helicopter and by flying at higher than "set" minimum altitudes in noise sensitive areas.
